Château La Nerthe is one of the oldest and most prestigious wine estates in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, located in the Rhône Valley in southern France. With a history spanning over five centuries, the estate stands as a symbol of tradition, innovation, and excellence in winemaking.

The origins of the estate date back to the 16th century, with official records appearing as early as 1560. Over the centuries, it was developed by the Tulle de Villefranche family, who transformed it into a leading vineyard and introduced pioneering practices, including bottling wine at the estate as early as 1776—an innovation for the region at that time.

In the late 19th century, after the devastation caused by the phylloxera crisis, the estate was revitalized by Commander Joseph Ducos, who played a key role in restoring the vineyards through grafting techniques and contributed to the rebirth of winemaking in the region.
